Important Note for Parents & Guardians

StudySpark is designed for children preparing for Year 3, 5, 7, and 9 assessments. We strictly comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and COPPA. Children cannot create independent accounts. All accounts must be registered, verified, and administered by a parent, guardian, or educator aged 18+.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information Provided by Parents:

Parent Account Details: Name, email address, and encrypted password credentials.
Child Profile Data: Year level and student alias (default pseudonymous names like "Clever Ninja"). We do not require real names, dates of birth, or photos of children.
Payment Information: Processed securely via Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified). We do not store raw credit card details on our servers.
Student Work: Handwritten essay images uploaded for AI evaluation and typed answers during practice tests.

B. Automatically Collected Data:

Test Analytics: Questions attempted, scores, completion times, and diagnostic mastery maps.
Technical Diagnostics: Browser type, operating system, and secure session tokens used strictly to maintain logged-in state.

2. How We Use Information

Generating adaptive daily practice quests and tailoring question difficulty.
Providing instant AI essay feedback and criterion band scores calibrated to NAPLAN and ICAS rubrics.
Rendering progress reports, radar charts, and downloadable PDF summaries in the Parent Portal.
Sending essential transactional notifications (verification links, invoices).

3. AI Evaluation & Data Transparency

Google Gemini AI Data Protection Guarantee

Uploaded essay images and typed submissions are evaluated using Google Gemini API through stateless real-time inference. Student submissions are never used to train foundational AI models, and no personally identifiable information (PII) is included in evaluation prompts.

4. Data Sharing & Security

We do not sell or rent personal data. Information is only shared with essential infrastructure providers under confidentiality agreements (Google Firebase for encrypted cloud database hosting and Stripe for payment processing).

5. Your Rights (Access & Deletion)

Under Australian privacy law, parents have the right to inspect, update, or permanently delete all student practice logs, writing history, and account records at any time directly through the Parent Portal or by contacting our team.
